EL DESIERTO QUE NO FUE (THE DESERT THAT WAS NOT)

Cinematography in documentary feature film aiming to approach different questions on how and when happened, back in prehistoric times, the settlement of America. Filmed almost entirely in the mythical Cacao Cave, in the deepest and highest part of the Puna in Catamarca, Dr. Carlos Aschero was accompanied for more than 10 years of recording in successive archaeological campaigns of excavation and probing, focusing on finding evidence of human occupation to answer these questions. In this process, Dr. Aschero found a rib of Mylodon, an extinct mammal from the Ice Age. The rib has marks that suggest human intervention and yields dating 40.000 years. This surprising finding sets 25.000 years of distance between what is known so far about the settlement of America and what can be verified.
Directed by Pablo Kühnert. Screenplay Federico Arseno. Direct sound by Matías Ianello and Agustín Del Castillo. Field production and logistics: Tomás Martínez Zemborain and Esteban Sigñeriz. Produced by CONICET(*) Documental. Executive Producer: Nicolás Martínez Zemborain.
